Rochester - Sister of St. Joseph Diane Muldoon (formerly Sister Celina), who ministered at St. Joseph's Villa (now known as Villa of Hope) for nearly 50 years, died February 27, 2026. She was 90 years old.

Sister Muldoon entered the congregation in 1953 from her home parish of St. Mary, Auburn. She earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1962 and a bachelor's in history in 1967, both from Nazareth College.

Sister Muldoon began teaching at Holy Rosary, Rochester in 1955. She also taught at St. Mary, Elmira, and Sacred Heart Cathedral, Rochester.

In 1963, Sister Muldoon was assigned to St. Joseph's Villa, where she remained for the next 49 years. For the first 15 years, she served as housemother, childcare worker and as a childcare supervisor.

In 1978, Sister Muldoon became the director of purchasing, and in 1984, she became the director of support services.

Upon her retirement from St. Joseph's Villa, Sister Muldoon began volunteering at Nazareth Elementary, the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse and Notre Dame Retreat House before moving to the motherhouse in 2023 and becoming part of the prayer ministry.

Sister Muldoon is survived by her sister; a nephew and a cousin; friends; and her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated March 5, 2026, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
