Rochester - Sister of St. Joseph Anne Urquhart (formerly Sister Dosithea), who ministered in parishes and schools in Rochester, Selma and New Orleans, died Feb. 25, 2026. She was 89 years old.

Sister Urquhart entered the congregation in 1955 from her home parish of St. Patrick, Seneca Falls. She earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1963 from Nazareth College and a master's degree in business education from Catholic University in 1974.

Sister Urquhart began teaching at St. Monica, Rochester, in 1957. In 1964, she was assigned to Nazareth Academy, Rochester, as a business teacher. Sister Urquhart taught at DeSales High School, Geneva in 1970, and at St. Agnes High School, Rochester in 1975.

In 1977, Sister Urquhart began working for the diocesan office of human development in rural minstry. She then served as parish social minister in Selma, Ala., and then accepted the position of pastoral minister at St. Peter Claver Parish in New Orleans, La.

Upon her return to Rochester in 1994, Sister Urquhart served as local coordinator at Nazareth Academy convent for six years. She returned to parish work, taking the position of pastoral associate at St. Andrew and St. Philip Neri parishes in Rochester. Sister Urquhart continued to volunteer in sisters' care, at St. Martin's Soup Kitchen before moving to the motherhouse in 2022.

Sister Urquhart is survived by her nieces; a nephew, friends and her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated March 2, 2026, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
